Opened discreetly with zero fanfare in November 2016 behind an actual clothing store in Penang, Backdoor Bodega quickly became the go-to spot in the city for great cocktails and good times. With frequent editions on Asia’s 100 Best Bars since 2022, the bar has been a training and proving ground for some of Malaysia’s top talents, amassing multiple awards and competition wins from the team and more recently the ’Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu’ award as part of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025.

Come and join us at Humboldt this coming Sunday 28th September from 9pm where we welcome Backdoor Bodega’s Ruben Lim for the 3rd edition of Noche De La Industria, a platform for Malaysia’s next generation of bartenders to showcase their original cocktail recipes. With the event supported by Pernod Ricard Malaysia, Ruben will be creating 4 unique and new serves utilising an array of premium spirits from their portfolio.
